Cine e Historia. Una relación condicionada por los intereses políticos a lo largo del siglo XX.

Mercedes Gamero Rojas is a graduate in Philosophy and Literature by the University of Barcelona, a Ph.D. in History by the Universidad de Sevilla, and a tenured lecturer of the Modern History department in said university. Her initial research was related to social and rural history in West Andalusia, mostly studying olive farms, ‘haciendas’, from an economic, sociological, and architectural perspective. In later years, she has extended her research on the study of mercantile European colonies established in Seville during the XVII and XVIII centuries. These studies reach out not only economic facets but also the deep social and cultural impact of these colonies in the city. During her lecture years, historical cinema became a useful tool for her to complement the understanding and analysis of particular issues.
